The Subhadra Yojana stands as a flagship initiative by the Government of Odisha introducing financial independence among women, uplifting their socio-economic standing, and encouraging digital financial literacy. It also seeks to reinforce the safety, dignity, and overall well-being of women across the state.
On the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day, the Government of Odisha distributed the 6th phase of financial disbursement under the Subhadra Yojana, a flagship initiative focused on women's empowerment and economic upliftment. Launched with the aim of improving the socio-economic status of women, the scheme provides annual financial support to eligible beneficiaries, encouraging entrepreneurship, self-reliance, and digital inclusion. The announcement was made by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, confirming that the distribution will take place on 24th April 2025 in Puri.
The Subhadra Yojana is designed to benefit all women, married or unmarried, between the ages of 21 and 60 who belong to economically weaker sections of society. To ensure that the assistance reaches the most deserving, the scheme excludes women from financially stable families, government employees, and individuals who pay income tax.
Other than this, women who are already receiving government support of ₹1,500 or more per month (i.e., ₹18,000 or more annually) under any other welfare scheme are not eligible.
The Government of Odisha has allocated a substantial budget of ₹55,825 crore for the Subhadra Yojana, highlighting the state’s strong commitment to women’s welfare and inclusive development. While the scheme is designed to offer financial security and independence to women, it also reflects the increasing significance of female voters in the world’s largest democracy.
Structured along the lines of the successful Mission Shakti Programme, which had gained widespread popularity among women in Odisha, the Subhadra Yojana builds upon this legacy by offering targeted assistance and digital empowerment to a broader section of the female population.
