Overview:
Recently, South Western Railway (SWR) is all set to revamp two railway stations Krishnarajapuram and Whitefield stations under Amrit Bharat Station scheme.
About Amrit Bharat Station Scheme:
- Amrit Bharat Station Scheme envisages development of stations on a continuous basis with a long term vision.
- Objectives:
- The scheme aims at preparation of Master Plans of the Railway stations and implementation of the Master Plan in phases to enhance the facilities.
- To provide various amenities for the benefit of passengers, including upgrading platforms, providing escalators, lifts, developing parking areas, resting rooms, beautification of stations etc.
- The scheme shall cater for introduction of new amenities as well as upgradation and replacement of existing amenities.
- Amenities for Divyangjan at stations shall be as per guidelines issued by Railway Board, from time to time.
- A total of 1,275 railway stations including border areas, have been identified for development under the Amrit Bharat Station scheme.
- The allocation of funds for the development and maintenance of stations is done Zonal Railway-wise.

Q1) What is the Yatri Mitra Scheme?
The facility of Yatri Mitra Sewa is being provided at major railway stations for enabling passengers viz. differently-abled, ailing and old aged persons to book wheel chair services cum porter services.
