It comprises the Strategic Policy Group, the National Security Advisory Board, and the National Security Council Secretariat.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It was established in 1998, following India's nuclear tests, to provide a more structured and comprehensive approach to national security.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">National Security Council History<\/span><\/h2>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In the 1990s, motivated by concerns over a potential Pakistani nuclear test, the then <\/span><b>PM V.P. Singh <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">organised a National Security Council in 1990. However, this NSC lacked institutional integration and became defunct soon after.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>K.C. Pant Task Force:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> In <\/span><b>1998<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, the then-central government established a task force for establishing the NSC, which was chaired by K.C. Pant.
