Historically, the Indian society has been patriarchal, with men holding more power and status than women.<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>During the\u00a0<strong>Indus Valley civilization,\u00a0<\/strong>and the<strong>\u00a0Vedic period<\/strong>, Women enjoyed\u00a0<strong>equal status<\/strong>\u00a0in society.<\/li>\r\n\t<li>They participated politically by attending\u00a0<strong>Sabha<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Samithis<\/strong>. Some significant female figures of the Vedic period are\u00a0<strong>Ghosha, Lopamudra, Sulabha Maitreyi, and Gargi.<\/strong><\/li>\r\n\t<li>The status of women began to\u00a0<strong>decline<\/strong>\u00a0in the\u00a0<strong>later Vedic period,<\/strong>\u00a0and many\u00a0<strong>social restrictions<\/strong>\u00a0were placed upon them. There was evidence of\u00a0<strong>sati<\/strong>\u00a0during the\u00a0<strong>Gupta Period<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n\t<li>During\u00a0<strong>Medieval times<\/strong>, the social status of a woman, both in Hindu and Muslim communities, was very\u00a0<strong>low<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Females belonging to the nobility observed\u00a0<strong>purdah<\/strong>\u00a0and were rarely allowed to go outside the house. The development of future generations depends upon women.<\/li>\r\n\t<li>According to an Annual Status of Education Report (<strong>ASER)<\/strong>\u00a0report, the education levels of a mother have a strong correlation with the holistic development of children.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n\t<li><strong>Health\/ Public health<\/strong>:\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>Women are responsible for\u00a0<strong>70-80%<\/strong>\u00a0of all the\u00a0<strong>healthcare provided<\/strong>\u00a0in India. Also, the number of\u00a0<strong>female representatives in the Lok sabha<\/strong>\u00a0increased from\u00a0<strong>5% in 1951 to 14% in 2019.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\r\n\t<li>Representation of women leaders at the grassroots level in India is nearly\u00a0<strong>50%<\/strong>, especially since the\u00a0<strong>73rd and 74th amendments<\/strong><strong>\u00a0in 1992<\/strong>, which allotted\u00a0<strong>one-third<\/strong>\u00a0of all seats to\u00a0<strong>women<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h2><strong>What is the role of women in India's Economic growth story?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n<p>The economic role of women in India has traditionally been limited, with many women facing cultural, social, and economic barriers that prevent them from fully participating in the workforce. Also, research shows that ventures started by women are more sustainable in nature.<\/li>\r\n\t<li>In\u00a0<strong>2022<\/strong>, a survey among 250 Indian companies revealed that the\u00a0<strong>share of women\u00a0<\/strong>in the\u00a0<strong>Chief Executive Officer<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>Managing Director roles<\/strong>\u00a0has\u00a0<strong>increased by<\/strong><strong>55<\/strong>% which reflected significant growth in their role in driving the economy.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h2><strong>What is the role of women in environmental conservation and sustainable development?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n<p>In India, women have traditionally played a significant role in environmental conservation and management, particularly in rural communities where as\u00a0<strong>farmers<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>animal rearers, and water and fuel collectors.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\r\n\t<li>Various environmental movements like the\u00a0<strong>Bishnoi movement, <a the\u00a0<strong>Joint Forest Management (JFM)<\/strong>\u00a0program of the\u00a0<strong>1990s<\/strong>\u00a0mandated that women comprise 33% of the membership in the management committees.<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Today, there is a growing emphasis on \"<strong>mainstreaming<\/strong>\" women's role in the\u00a0<strong>planning<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>implementing, and monitoring<\/strong>\u00a0of all\u00a0<strong>sustainable development<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>environmental management programmes.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h2><strong>What measures could help enhance the role of women?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li><strong>Improving access to\u00a0<\/strong><strong>education<\/strong><strong>:\u00a0<\/strong>By increasing access to quality education for girls, as well as education and training programs that help women to develop the skills they need to participate in the workforce.<\/li>\r\n\t<li><strong>Providing support services:<\/strong>\u00a0Support services such as\u00a0<strong>affordable childcare,<\/strong><strong>healthcare<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>transportation<\/strong>\u00a0can help women to balance the demands of work and family life.<\/li>\r\n\t<li><strong>Encouraging women's participation in leadership roles:\u00a0<\/strong>Initiatives to promote women's leadership in politics, business, and other fields, as well as mentoring and networking programs that help women to develop the skills and connections they need to succeed.<\/li>\r\n\t<li><strong>Addressing discrimination and bias:<\/strong>\u00a0This includes efforts to combat discrimination and bias in the workplace, as well as in other areas of life.<\/li>\r\n\t<li><strong>Encouraging community
