The National Commission for Women (NCW)<\/strong> was established to safeguard and promote the rights and interests of women in India. It reviews constitutional and legal safeguards, examines complaints, and takes up matters of violation of women\u2019s rights.<\/span>
\r\n<\/span>The NCW is significant as an institutional mechanism for gender justice, legal awareness, grievance redressal and policy advocacy. However, its effectiveness is constrained by limited enforcement powers, resource and staffing constraints, delays in grievance resolution, and gaps in coordination with state-level institutions.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

National Commission for Women About<\/span><\/h2>\r\n

The National Commission for Women (NCW) is a statutory body established in 1992 under the National Commission for Women Act, 1990, to protect and promote women's rights in India. The NCW works as an important grievance-redressal and advisory institution. <\/span>It receives complaints relating to violations of women\u2019s rights, conducts studies and investigations, promotes awareness of legal safeguards, and recommends legislative and policy measures to the government.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

National Commission for Women Composition<\/span><\/h2>\r\n

As per Section 3 of the National Commission for Women Act, 1990, the Commission shall consist of a Chairperson, 5 Members, and a Member-Secretary who are nominated by the Central Government.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Amongst persons of ability, integrity, and standing who have had experience in law or legislation, trade unionism, women's voluntary organisations, administration, health, education, etc.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Note:<\/b> At least one Member shall be from amongst persons belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, respectively.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
