These organisations are called \"Related organisations\" by the UN. It works with member states and multiple partners worldwide to promote the safe, secure and peaceful use of nuclear technologies.<\/li>\r\n\t<li><strong>Foundation<\/strong>: Created in\u00a0<strong>1957<\/strong>\u00a0in response to the deep fears and expectations generated by the discoveries and diverse uses of nuclear technology.<\/li>\r\n\t<li><strong>Three main missions of IAEA:<\/strong>\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>Promoting the\u00a0<strong>peaceful uses<\/strong>\u00a0of nuclear energy by its member states,<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Implementing safeguards to verify that nuclear energy is not used for military purposes, and<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Promoting high standards for\u00a0<strong>nuclear safety<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n\t<li><strong>Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize:\u00a0<\/strong>In 2005, the IAEA were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for the efforts to prevent nuclear energy from being used for military purposes.<\/li>\r\n\t<li><strong>IAEA Safeguards:\u00a0<\/strong>These are activities by which the IAEA can verify that a State is living up to its\u00a0<strong>international commitment\u00a0<\/strong>not to use nuclear programmes for nuclear weapons purposes.<\/li>\r\n\t<li><strong>Additional Protocol:\u00a0<\/strong>significantly increases the IAEA's ability to verify the peaceful use of all nuclear material in States with comprehensive safeguards agreements. The implication of ratifying the \u2018Additional Protocol\u2019 of IAEA means that\u00a0<strong>civilian nuclear reactors come under IAEA safeguards.<\/strong><\/li>\r\n\t<li><strong>Work with UNSC:\u00a0<\/strong>Unlike most other specialized international agencies, the IAEA does much of its work with the Security Council and not with the United Nations Economic and Social Council.<\/li>\r\n\t<li><strong>Headquarters<\/strong>: Vienna, Austria<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><strong>Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li><strong>Objective<\/strong>: Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) works to\u00a0<strong>eliminate chemical weapons stockpiles<\/strong>, to ensure the nonproliferation of existing stockpiles, to assist states in protecting themselves against chemical weapons attacks, and to promote international cooperation in the use of chemistry for peaceful purposes.<\/li>\r\n\t<li><strong>Foundation<\/strong>: OPCW is the implementing body of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), which\u00a0<strong>entered into force in 1997<\/strong>. The OPCW Member States work together to achieve a world free of chemical weapons.<\/li>\r\n\t<li><strong>Awarded Nobel Peace Prize:<\/strong>\u00a0The organisation was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2013 for its extensive efforts to eliminate chemical weapons.<\/li>\r\n\t<li><strong>Headquarters<\/strong>: The Hague, Netherlands<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><strong>United Nations Framework Convention on\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Climate Change<\/strong><strong>\u00a0Secretariat<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li><strong>Objective:\u00a0<\/strong>The UNFCCC secretariat (UN Climate Change) is the United Nations entity tasked with supporting the global response to the threat of climate change.<\/li>\r\n\t<li><strong>Foundation<\/strong>: The UNFCCC Secretariat (UN Climate Change) was\u00a0<strong>established in 1992\u00a0<\/strong>when countries adopted the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).<\/li>\r\n\t<li><strong>Registry for Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC):<\/strong>\u00a0also maintains the registry for NDC established under the\u00a0<strong>Paris Agreement<\/strong>, a key aspect of the implementation of the Paris Agreement.<\/li>\r\n\t<li><strong>Sessions<\/strong>: The secretariat organizes and supports between two and four negotiating sessions each year.
