IIS Officers work under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. In this article, we will discuss the roles and responsibilities, pay scale, salary and career growth of IIS Officers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">IIS Officers Roles and Responsibilities\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Following are the roles and responsibilities of IIS Officers:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Overseeing and coordinating the activities of the Press Information Bureau (PIB).<\/span><\/li>\r\n\t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Managing government publicity efforts and campaigns.<\/span><\/li>\r\n\t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Supervising and guiding news service units like DD News and All India Radio (AIR).<\/span><\/li>\r\n\t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Organizing press advertisements and visual publicity campaigns to disseminate information about government policies and initiatives through various media channels.<\/span><\/li>\r\n\t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Addressing legal matters related to the verification of titles, registration, and circulation of newspapers in the country.<\/span><\/li>\r\n\t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Planning and implementing effective media strategies for the government.<\/span><\/li>\r\n\t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Opportunities to serve abroad, particularly in collaboration with Prasar Bharati.<\/span><\/li>\r\n\t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Deputation postings in other departments\/ministries and roles as Personal Secretaries in the Central Government on a co-terminus basis.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Indian Information Service Officer Training<\/span><\/h2>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The IIS Officers training is conducted in three phases:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Phase 1 training is conducted at LBSNAA for three months.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n\t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Phase 2 is conducted at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication for 9 months.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n\t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In phase 3 the probationary officers undergo training for one year at multiple media wings of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. style=\"font-weight: 400\">Upon completing their probationary period, Indian Information Service (IIS) officers are assigned to the media wing of the Government of India.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Their initial posting is as Assistant Director in the Junior Grade.<\/span><\/li>\r\n\t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span
