5. Stratigraphy and Geology of India: Principles of stratigraphy, rock formations, geological time scale, and the geology of India with a focus on major rock units, minerals, and fossils.

Geology Optional Paper 2 Syllabus:

1. Mineralogy: Identification, classification, and properties of minerals, crystallography, and mineral associations.
2. Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology: Study of igneous rocks, their classification, origin, and processes of formation. Metamorphic rocks and their textures, mineral assemblages, and metamorphic processes.
3. Sedimentology: Examination of sedimentary rocks, their classification, depositional environments, and processes. Study of sedimentary structures and fossils.
4. Economic Geology: Exploration, extraction, and utilisation of mineral and energy resources. Study of ore deposits, mineral economics, and sustainable resource management.
5. Mining Geology: Principles of mining, mine planning, and mineral extraction methods. Environmental aspects of mining and mitigation measures.
6. Geochemistry and Environmental Geology: Chemical composition and processes in Earth materials. Environmental geology, natural hazards, environmental impact assessment, and remediation measures.

• Weekend Classes: Saturday and Sunday sessions from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM (with a 30-minute break included).

• Delivery Mode: Complete online format featuring live interactive lectures, with recorded sessions available for subsequent review.
• Assessment Component: The program features six comprehensive tests comprising four sectional assessments and two full-length mock examinations, complemented by daily answer-writing practice sessions.
• Syllabus Coverage: Complete coverage of the entire Geology optional curriculum for IFS Mains examination (both Paper I and Paper II).
• Current Relevance: Integration of recent UPSC Geology examination patterns through comprehensive analysis of question papers from the previous 3 years.
• Answer-Writing Practice: Daily structured answer-writing exercises synchronized with the syllabus progression, accompanied by expert evaluation and feedback.

• Total of 6 tests. 4 sectional tests and 2 full tests. 
• All tests answer papers will be evaluated, and feedback will be provided within the timeline of maximum 10 days from the date of your submission.
• Students can write the test up to 3 days from the scheduled date. Submission after deadline is not entertained.
• Test discussion by the optional faculty through recorded video. 
• One on one discussion and mentoring either personally or via call whenever required.
