Economics Optional Topic Enhancement Programme

About the Programme

A topic-wise programme for candidates who have already studied Economics Optional and want to strengthen specific high-scoring topics.

Each topic is taught in depth, with previous year questions discussed in class and a test at the end. You can join a single topic — you do not have to take the whole subject again.

Who this programme is for

You have been through the Economics Optional syllabus at least once — by self-study, at a previous coaching programme, or through an academic background in the subject — and there are particular topics you are not yet confident writing under exam conditions.

If you are starting Economics from the beginning, or if large parts of Paper I remain unread, the full Economics Optional course is the right place to begin instead.

Topics

  • Public Finance
  • Growth and Development — begins 1 to 1.5 months after Public Finance concludes

What each topic includes

  • In-depth classes on the topic
  • Previous year question discussion
  • Test

How the classes work

  • Each topic is taught comprehensively in line with previous years’ questions.
  • Diagrams and derivations are worked out in class, in the form the answer requires.
  • PYQs are covered after the completion of the comprehensive coverage of the syllabus.

Faculty

Mr. Shyam Sunder, Economics Optional faculty at Vajiram & Ravi.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to join both topics?

No. Each topic can be taken on its own.

Is this a full Economics Optional course?

No. It covers selected topics in depth, and assumes you have already been through the basic micro-economics.

I prepared Economics at another institute. Will this repeat what I have done?

The topics will be familiar. The purpose is to settle how you write them, not to introduce them.

Are previous year questions discussed separately?

Yes. They are taken up inside the classes on each topic.
