The Fit India Movement was launched on 29 August 2019 by the Prime Minister of India under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to make fitness an integral part of everyday life. It seeks to encourage citizens to adopt a more physically active lifestyle and promote fitness activities across schools, colleges, panchayats and villages.

The Fit India movement seeks to bring about behavioural changes and make physical activity a regular part of people’s lives.
- Promote Fitness: Make fitness easy, fun and free for citizens.
