Gulveer Singh Won Silver Medal in Men’s 10,000m Athletics

Indian long-distance runner Gulveer Singh became the first Indian man to win a Commonwealth Games medal in the men’s 10,000 metres event.

• He won the silver medal by clocking 27 minutes 49.8 seconds in the final race.
• Australia’s Ky Robinson won the gold medal, while David Mullarkey of the Isle of Man secured the bronze medal.
• Gulveer’s achievement marked India’s first-ever men’s 10,000m medal at the Commonwealth Games.
• It was India’s first medal in the event since Kavita Raut’s bronze medal in the women’s 10,000m at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Harjinder Kaur Won Silver Medal in Women’s 69 kg Weightlifting

Indian weightlifter Harjinder Kaur won silver in the women’s 69 kg category, continuing India’s strong performance in weightlifting.

• She lifted 101 kg in snatch and 126 kg in clean and jerk, achieving a total of 227 kg.
• Both her lifts were personal best performances at the international level.
• She also broke the Commonwealth Games snatch record twice during the competition.
• Canada’s Charlotte Simoneau won gold with 240 kg, while Australia’s Nya Phebe Hayman won bronze with 218 kg.
• The medal marked Harjinder’s second consecutive Commonwealth Games podium finish after winning bronze at Birmingham 2022.
