Option 3: 1 and 3 only

Detailed Solution

Explanation:

  • Birdlife International has a  network of over 2 million birders, scientists and local volunteers who help them to track, follow, analyze, conserve and understand every bird species in the world. So, statement 1 is correct.

  • They are the official scientific source of information on birds for the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List.

  • They have also identified and documented more than 13,000 Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) which are places of global significance for the conservation of birds and other biodiversity, creating practical tools for conservation and a wider integrated approach to conservation and the sustainable use of the natural environment. So, statement 3 is correct.

  • The concept of biodiversity hotspots has been given by Norman Mayers. It was not related to this organisation. So, statement 2 is not correct.
