About Kolleru Lake
- It is one of the largest freshwater lakes in India, located in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
- It is located in the inter-deltaic plain of rivers Krishna and Godavari near the city of Eluru and serves as a natural flood-balancing reservoir for these two rivers.Â
- It spreads over an area of about 308 sq. km. and expands up to 954 sq.km. at the highest flood level.Â
- It is the largest freshwater lake in Andhra Pradesh.Â
- Characteristically, it is a shallow lake.
- It receives water from four rivers, namely Budameru, Ramileru, Tammileru, and Errakalva, and 18 drains.Â
