International Yoga Day 2025 marks the 11th global celebration of a timeless Indian tradition of Yoga. Celebrated every year on June 21st, it aims to raise awareness about the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of yoga among the citizens. This year’s celebration will be led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, with over 1 lakh locations across India participating in a synchronized Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) session. With the International Yoga Day 2025 Theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, the focus is on linking personal health with global sustainability.

International Yoga Day 2025 Overview

The 11th International Day of Yoga will be organized by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. It will feature yoga sessions under the Common Yoga Protocol at over 1 lakh locations, both in India and globally. Events such as Yoga Sangam, Yoga Bandhan, and Yoga Maha Kumbh will highlight yoga’s outreach. Countries around the world will join through Indian missions abroad. This day also encourages holistic health, social unity, and environmental sustainability.

International Yoga Day 2025 Theme

The International Yoga Day 2025 Theme is “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” It emphasizes the inter-connection between human health and the environment, highlighting the “One Earth, One Family, One Future” G20 vision. The theme promotes yoga as a tool for personal wellness and sustainable living. It calls for global responsibility toward the planet and individual well-being. The idea is to bridge the gap between health, nature, and culture through yoga.

International Yoga Day 2025 Venue

The main event of International Yoga Day 2025 will take place in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, led by PM Modi. In Delhi, Chhatrasal Stadium will host around 10,000 yoga practitioners, with events also held at 11 other major venues. Over 5,000 volunteers from Bharatiya Yog Sansthan will assist in managing sessions. These events showcase India’s commitment to mainstreaming yoga into everyday life. The venue selections aim to ensure both national significance and public engagement.

The official International Yoga Day 2025 Logo visually represents the union of body, mind, and nature through yoga. The folded hands in the posture reflect inner balance and harmony. The colors in the International Yoga Day 2025 Logo signify five elements: earth (brown), nature (green), water (blue), fire (yellow), and energy (sun). Together, the logo embodies the essence of holistic health. No new logo has been announced for 2025, so the current one continues to be used.

International Yoga Day 2025 History

The United Nations declared June 21 as International Yoga Day in 2014, following a proposal by PM Narendra Modi. The resolution was co-sponsored by 177 countries, the highest ever for any UN resolution. The first International Yoga Day was celebrated on June 21, 2015, in India and globally. The date aligns with the longest day of the year. Since then, the day has grown into a global wellness movement.

Types of Yoga

There are 4 Types of Yoga suited to different life paths and physical needs. These types together offer a complete system of physical, mental, and spiritual growth which are discussed below: 

  1. Karma Yoga is the yoga of action, focusing on selfless service. 
  2. Bhakti Yoga emphasizes devotion and emotional connection with the divine. 
  3. Gyana Yoga promotes self-inquiry and wisdom through introspection and learning. 
  4. Kriya Yoga involves techniques for inner energy balance and spiritual advancement. 

PM Yoga Awards 2025

The PM Yoga Awards 2025 recognize individuals and institutions contributing significantly to yoga promotion. Each award includes a ₹25 lakh cash prize, trophy, and certificate. The awards encourage innovation, community outreach, and research in yoga. Winners are announced annually on June 21, during the main celebration of International Yoga Day 2025. There are four award categories:
