  2. 2. 2 and 4 only
  3. 3. 1, 3 and 4 only
  4. 4. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5

Answer (Detailed Solution Below)

Option 1: 1, 2 and 3 only

Detailed Solution

Explanation:

  • Benzene is a chemical that is a colourless or light yellow liquid at room temperature. It has a sweet odour and is highly flammable. Benzene evaporates into the air very quickly. Its vapour is heavier than air and may sink into low-lying areas. Benzene dissolves only slightly in water and will float on top of water.

  • Outdoor air contains low levels of benzene from tobacco smoke, gas stations, motor vehicle exhaust, burning wood and industrial emissions. Indoor air generally contains levels of benzene higher than those in outdoor air. The benzene in indoor air comes from products that contain benzene such as glues, paints, furniture wax, and detergents. Benzene leaks from underground storage tanks or from hazardous waste sites containing benzene can contaminate well water. So, points 1, 2 and 3 are correct.

  • Just using the products made of polyurethane and varnished wooden furniture don't cause benzene pollution. So, 4 and 5 are not correct.

Therefore, option (1) is the correct answer.
