  3. 3. 2 and 3 only
  4. 4. 1, 2 and 3

Answer (Detailed Solution Below)

Option 4: 1, 2 and 3

Detailed Solution

Explanation:

  • Three UN agencies – United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) – have collaborated in the establishment of the UN-REDD Programme. Its next version, REDD+ is a climate change mitigation solution developed by Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

  • The REDD+ framework is commonly referred to as the Warsaw Framework for REDD+ (WFR) adopted at COP 19 in Warsaw, December 2013. It is also recognized in Article 5 of the Paris Agreement. REDD+ aims at the implementation of activities which are as follows:

1) reduction of emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (protection of biodiversity) So, point 1 is correct.

2) sustainable management of forests and the conservation and enhancement of forest carbon stocks in developing countries (resilience of forest ecosystems) So, point 2 is correct.

3) An annual outlay of $1 million in forest management can generate from 500 to 1,000 jobs in many developing countries, and 20 to 100 in most developed and middle-income countries (poverty reduction). So, point 3 is correct.

Therefore, option (4) is the correct answer.
