Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Daman and Diu, Lakshadweep and Dadra and Nagar Haveli Civil Service, Group B service is considered to be one of the most prestigious career options. DANICS Officers are responsible for the governance and development of union territories. They undergo a training programme to gain the required skills and knowledge to perform their functions. To qualify to become a DANICS Officer, the following eligibility criteria needs to be met:

Qualification

Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.

Number of Attempts

General category: Up to six attempts. Relaxation for reserved categories.

Physical Requirement

Candidates must meet specified physical standards by UPSC.

DANICS Roles and Responsibilities

DANICS is a grade ‘B’ officer, whose roles and responsibilities include: 

  • Managing everyday affairs to ensure effective governance and implementation of government schemes and policies. 
  • Ensure peace and security, maintain law and order and coordinate along with local law enforcement agencies. 
  • Implementing development projects in the field of healthcare, education, social welfare and infrastructure. 
  • Manage land administration, revenue collection and revenue related matters including taxation. 
  • Promote public awareness of government schemes and initiatives and address grievances.

DANICS Officer Training

DANICS Officers undergo training to learn the skills required to perform their functions. The DANICS Training include: 

  • Training includes fieldwork and classroom teaching that includes government schemes and laws and how to implement them. 
  • Officers have to take up fieldwork by visiting different places, tackle different situations and develop problem solving skills. 
  • In the final phase, officers are tested based on their learning to ensure their understanding.

UPSC Notification 2025 was released on 22nd January 2025.

→ The UPSC Vacancy 2025 were released 1129, out of which 979 were for UPSC CSE and remaining 150 are for UPSC IFoS.

→ As per UPSC Notification, the last date to apply is 18th February 2025.

→ The UPSC Prelims 2025 is scheduled to be conducted on 25th May 2025 and UPSC Mains 2025 will be conducted on 22nd August 2025.
